Mom’s Shawlini

I have an unfortunate habit of walking away from projects when nearly completed. While my craft room is in complete disarray while under renovation I am very much aware of the many bags and boxes containing multiple works in progress (WIPs) that could probably be completed with relative ease and motivation. Does this offer some insight into my psyche? Do I lack focus and determination, or do I have trouble with the idea of “the end,” not wanting to experience finality? In all honesty these are craft projects and I do finish quite a number of them in a year so really I’m just being dramatic about the whole thing.

In any case, I have finally finished the crocheted Shawlini today as a gift for my Mother tomorrow. The bulk of this was completed three weeks ago, and today I only needed to finish the two row bottom edging.

Isn’t it pretty and feminine? The Shawlini was crocheted with Cascade Yarns Ultra Pima (100% cotton DK weight yarn) in Alaska Sky and an “I” crochet hook. This was my first time using this yarn and I have no complaints, it looks lovely and has such a nice drape with this pattern. A little over one skein was used and I plan on using the remainder to eventually crochet myself some luxurious spa washcloths.
